Pregnancy Testing

CDHD offers pregnancy testing, prenatal education, referral for prenatal care, and provide determination of presumptive eligibility for Medicaid for pregnant women.

Presumptive eligibility for Medicaid will be determined based on family income and the number of family members supported by that income. A client must meet the following criteria to apply for presumptive eligibility at CDHD:

  • The client must not already have Medicaid,
  • The client nor their spouse can be self-employed
  • The client must be a U.S. citizen

If a client does not meet these criteria, the client is required to apply for Medicaid directly through Health and Welfare. If the client is a minor and is living with her parent(s), the parent must come to the client's appointment for presumptive eligibility. A portion of the parent's income will be used to determine presumptive eligibility for Medicaid.

If a client qualifies for presumptive eligibility, a temporary Medicaid card will be issued for pregnancy related care. The application for Medicaid will be completed and sent to Health and Welfare. The qualified client will receive a prescription for prenatal vitamins and will be assisted with making the first prenatal appointment with a doctor who accepts Medicaid.
