Adult Vaccines
Some adults assume that the vaccines they received as children will protect them for the rest of their lives. While this is generally true, there are exceptions:
- Some adults were never vaccinated as children
- Newer vaccines were not available when some adults were children
- Immunity can begin to fade over time
Shingles Vaccine (Zostavax)
The Shingles vaccine (Zostavax) is not available at the offices of Central District Health. Click here for a list of area pharmacies where Zostavax is available in Ada and Valley counties. Zostavax is available at the CDHD Mountain Home office.
Also of Concern
Some diseases affect older adults more than young adults or children. Many diseases, such as influenza, change year to year and can be prevented by vaccinating annually.
No matter how healthy you are, adults need immunizations too!
